Greetings FOBIA fiends!

This week, we passed a huge milestone in the creation of our Horror anthology comic book, that is, the creation of ALL of the illustrated assets for our issues of FOBIA!

This is a massive accomplishment for us, and would not be possible without the incredible support provided by YOU, our Kickstarter backers.

FOBIA Vol: 1 will contain over 150 pages of fully colored illustrated comic book pages. Including 16 tales of terror, and 20 additional 1-2 page comics featuring out diabolical narrator - THE STORY KEEPER!

This comic is turning out better than any of us on the production team could have ever imagined, and we can not wait to get this book into your hands and start hearing what you all think about this horror anthology that we have been working on for nearly 2 years.

But, as with all major productions, we have experiences some unforeseen setbacks that have once again put us slightly behind schedule.

This time it comes in the form of a harsh winter season, in which a handful of our artists battled some illness and physical setbacks. Without going too much into private details, we can say that we made the obvious decision to let our artists prioritize their health and well being. We definitely did not want ANYONE to feel like they had to prioritize the creation of a scary comic book over their recovery, or make them feel like they had to work at the expense of their own comfort and mental wellbeing. We think that all of our supporters can understand that maintaining a happy and healthy art team is the only way we can operate when creating this book.

Luckily, everyone has taken the time they need to recover. Some artists had to step away from the project, which we completely understand. We were fortunate enough to find new talent to fill in. At the end of the day, every single artist we signed on to the project was able to contribute in some way to our anthology and we are happy that we have such a wide representation of amazing artists in this book - from all around the world!

Nearly 30 different artists have participated in the creation of FOBIA Vol: 1

As we have now completed the illustration phase of the book, we are moving into designing the final layouts and perfecting some minor details to get the presentation of our Horror anthology just right.

If this process has taught us anything, it's to expect the unexpected... we previously stated that our digital issues would be released by the end of February. That has not happened, but stick with us! We will be working towards getting those out to everybody in the next few weeks. We will not place a hard release date for these issues at the moment, but we can assure you that we are working very hard to get this out as soon as possible. We are still on track to have the physical copies of the book out by this summer.

Additional backer rewards are being created as we speak. And soon we will be offering a backer survey with options available for anyone who would like to upgrade to the hardcover special edition.

Thank you all so much for your support and patience.

We will be back soon with more updates and new details!!!

Fobia has been delayed
10 months ago – Wed, Jan 31, 2024 at 10:04:57 AM

Hello Everyone,

Derrick Acosta (Creator, Author and Co-Producer of FOBIA) here with a huge update for FOBIA Vol 1.

This is going to be a long post, so let's just get right to it:

We have some good news and we have some bad news.

First, the bad news...

As of right now, it's with a sour reluctance that we must announce that FOBIA Vol 1 is going to be delayed.

Unfortunately we have experienced some unexpected set backs and it is looking like we have no choice but to re-adjust our release schedule. Let me break it down:

Originally, the plan was to ship physical copies of our comic book in March, but a few unexpected hurdles have come up and caused us to push back our release date.

The first hurdle is simply the fact that we are not yet done illustrating all the pages of our book. Straight up.

So far we have completed 14 stories out of a planned total of 16. That means we have over 90 fully illustrated and colored comic pages ready to go for our book!

...but we still have a few more to get done.

Page from "Hell Tapes" illustrated by Kasey Williams

Our final two stories we be completed in the next few weeks, and we are moving along at a brisk pace, yet sadly, we are still behind schedule.

Our goal was to be done by the end of the year, and send the book off to the printer, but due to the holiday season, and other personal and professional projects that the artists/illustrator team were previously committed to, we needed extra time to get the stories completed.

Speaking of sending the book to the printer, we are expecting the book to take up to 9 weeks to be created once printing gets started.

That means when the pages are done - we are going to be looking at a 2 month turn around to create the physical copies of the book.

In addition to the horror stories, we are also completing a collection of 1-page comics featuring our narrator character. In the final book, you will see about three 1-page comics per issue.

We currently have 15 of these 1-pagers completed, but we still have about 5-6 more to go. As you can imagine, even a single page comic requires several hours, and multiple days of careful craftsmanship to create. So we are still at least a few weeks out from having those pages finished.

Thirdly, Cover art for the digital issues. I dropped the ball on this one. I should have contacted cover artists weeks ago to get these covers worked on, my bad. I was focused on writing and finding/commissioning artists to illustrate the main stories.

I procrastinated on locating cover artists, and that was my mistake. We are now currently getting covers created for 8 issues in total. We have 5 covers currently completed or in production. We have 3 more to go.

All together, the date of completion for ALL the book assets is March 15th. If all goes according to plan, we will have the book ready to go to the printer by the end of March.

Considering the 9 weeks required to print the books, it looks like FOBIA won't be ready to be shipped until late May / early June. So that is our new projected ship date.

FOBIA: VOL 1  is expected to ship in late May or early June.

Now for some good news!

I can say in full confidence that FOBIA is shaping up to be bigger and better than I could have possibly imagined!

Our team of artists is first class, bringing together different styles from all over the world, from amazing television animation veterans to horror comic pros.

We have a team of artists who have worked on horror comic classics like Creepy, created comics for Rob Zombie, worked in Television animation on programs like Animaniacs and Jackie Chan Adventures, worked on projects for Wizards of the Coast, Nickelodeon, Adult Swim and so much more!

This team is phenomenal and we are confident everyone will be blown away by the final product.

And since we have already created a large portion of the book, My Co-Producer Gan Yimke and myself have decided to release the first batch of individual digital issues before the final book comes out. We are aiming to have the first batch of digital releases ready sometime in February.

We also will be releasing our Behind The Scenes digital zine and our comic creator read-list, both of these were digital rewards offered to our backers.

The 1st batch of FOBIA digital issues + digital rewards will be coming out in February.

More on those digital release dates very soon!

Thank you for understanding and for your ongoing support. We truly appreciate you helping us bring this comic to life.

Story Keeper Page by Daniel Dussault

Greetings FOBIA backers!

We just had to share this little comic from one of our dear friends, Daniel Dussault, Illustrator extraordinaire! He's just one of the MANY talented artists on our roster rounding out the FOBIA art team.

This sample page from our upcoming book is perfect for this season. Hope you get a kick out of it!

Things are moving along!

We have commissioned ALL of our stories for FOBIA Vol: 1 and as you can see we are putting the final touches on our in-between pages featuring our devilish master of ceremonies - The FOBIA Story Keeper.

This fiend not only has dozens of stories to share with you in FOBIA Vol: 1 - but he appears in more than a few stories himself.

As we get closer to completing the final layout of our book, we will be sharing more finished pages to give you all a taste of what's to come.

DIGITAL ISSUES WILL BE RELEASED VERY SOON

Our goal was to have our page layouts completed by the end of the year, but as you may have guessed - the holidays put a little kink into our plan. Nevertheless, we are working hard every day to collect all of our finished assets and we believe we will have everything set to go to print in the next few weeks.

With that being said, keep an eye out for our next few updates as we will be announcing the release of our digital issues ahead of the physical book.

To give you an idea of our current timeline:

  • We are aiming to have our page layout complete in the next 3-4 weeks
  • As soon as our page layouts are complete we will be releasing our digital issues to our backers
  • Digital issues will also come with our reward tier zines, recommendation lists and other rewards.
  • When the Book is ready, we will be sending backer surveys out to offer a chance to upgrade to the hard copy of Fobia Vol: 1 as well as confirm shipping information.
  • Once the books go to our printer it will take an estimated 8 weeks for us to receive the hard copies.
  • When the books are in our hands, we will begin shipping them to you!

We are so close, we can taste it! Just hang on a little bit longer. We can't wait for you all to see what we've been cooking up for you.

Thanks for all of your support, and help in bringing this book to life. We will be back very soon with more updates.

FOBIA Vol 1 is nearly complete...

Currently, we are still on schedule to meet our goal of finishing off the book by the end of the year. and then it's off to the printers and into your hands!

And about those Backer Surveys...

If you're wondering how you upgrade to the hardcover edition of FOBIA, or if you need to change your shipping address, stay tuned. You will have an opportunity to do so when we send out our Backer Surveys!

We have not yet sent out the Backer Survey because we are waiting until the book is completed. This is to ensure that those of you who are receiving digital issues of the FOBIA comic book will be able to select exactly which issues you want to have sent to you. Once the book pages are finalized we will be sending out the surveys so that each FOBIA backer will have a chance to select exactly what they want their reward to be.

Not only are we SUPER CLOSE to having the book created, we are also working on creating our Behind the Scenes reward tiers, as well as our curated reading, and watch lists.

We thank you for your patience and support on this project, which is growing better and scarier each day. We promise you're going to love FOBIA when it's ready!

We will be back with more updates soon! Thanks for checking in!

New issues are being created!
about 1 year ago – Tue, Oct 24, 2023 at 10:58:36 AM

We are working hard!

Thanks to everyone who backed Fobia, we are well on our way to completing Fobia: Vol 1.

When we originally launched our kickstarter we had 3 issues completed. Well, we currently have 13 stories (out of a planned batch of 16 stories) commissioned and in the works.

We just wanted to give an update to everyone out there to let you know we are right on schedule to have our book off to the printers in the next 60 days.

Deluxe Hardcover Edition is still available!

For those if you who missed your chance to upgrade to the Deluxe Hardcover Edition of Fobia, we wanted to let you know you will still have a chance to update at a later time.

Once the final page layout for the book is complete we will be sending out our backer survey and at that time we offer a final chance to upgrade for people who want the hardcover. So stay tuned.

Thanks again for supporting Fobia!
